Belly Fat Diets – the Magical Solution?

March 11th, 2010 DietPills-thatWork No comments

Have you heard that there are foods and special diets that are specially designed to help you get rid of your belly fat? There is something called the Flat Belly Diet that has been endorsed by the writers at Prevention magazine. The diet is promoted as a way to take as many inches off of your waistline as you want. There are also a variety of diets making the rounds right now that claim they can get rid of your stomach fat without you having to do a single minute of exercise. Are these diets the real deal? Here is what we have found out about belly fat diets:

The best way to get rid of stomach fat is to eat a healthy diet and maintain a regular exercise routine. You will want to work all of your muscle systems, not just your abdominal region. You know that this is true, but isn’t there any truth to the diets that claim to get rid of belly fat?

To understand why these diets aren’t what they claim to be, you need to understand how fat works in your body. Fat cells cannot be lost without surgery. Even people who are in model shape have plenty of fat cells in their bodies. Fat cells are cells that stretch and constrict depending on how much exercise you get and what you eat. The only way to lose a fat cell is to have it surgically removed. What’s more, your body stores fat in different ways–focusing on a single area of your body won’t get rid of that area’s fat. It will simply relocate the fat to somewhere else!

The “Belly Fat Diet” promoted by Prevention Magazine is famous because it promotes the ingestion of monosaturated fat. Followers of this diet plan are instructed to add some source of monosaturated fat to every meal they eat. Monosaturated fats can be found in, among other things, soybeans, seeds, nuts, olives and dark chocolate. The person who developed the diet claims that monosaturated fat focuses specifically on the fat that is stored in the belly area. The author of the diet encourages exercise, but emphasizes that exercise is not required to make the diet successful.

Recently, MSNBC released an article that promises readers that there are no foods that will actively attack single areas of body fat. Belly fat is the same as fat located in other areas of the human body. The article maintains that genetics has more to do with where your body stores fat than anything you could eat.

Here is the simple truth: if you cut your calorie intake and burn more calories than you take in, you will lose weight! To work specifically on the fat that is stored in your belly, you can add some extra abdominal exercises to your regular workout routine. There are no magical belly fat diets that will whisk away the fat cells stored in your belly. To truly lose your stomach fat you need to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly!

Are Diet Fads The Enemies of Weight Loss

March 10th, 2010 DietPills-thatWork No comments

While dieters may be attracted to diet plans promoted by celebrities, they should be careful of taking the word of individuals who probably have no nutritional or medical training and who are likely to be just good salespeople. Consumers are advised to question celebrity-inspired diet books, say Annette B. Natow and Jo-Ann Heslin, authors of Get Skinny the Smart Way. These books may be based on nutritional fictions, and while the diets described in such books may provide weight loss in the short term, they may be unhealthy when followed for any significant length of time. Dieters should choose to follow plans established by nutritional experts.

Diet fads aren’t limited to programs sponsored by celebrities. The so-called grapefruit diet, which requires eating a grapefruit before each meal, has been a popular fad diet for some time. Other fad diets include the cabbage soup diet in which unlimited amounts of cabbage soup may be consumed, or the raw egg diet in which dieters eat all the raw eggs they can handle. Fad diets may recommend eating only raw foods or fasting every other day. These diets are based on misinformation and may even be dangerous. The cabbage soup diet, for example, has not been endorsed by any major health organization, and it could actually cause harm. The diet claims to provide losses as high as 15 pounds per week, but does not mention that most of this is water. The American Heart Association notes that this diet can be dangerous, and once dieters eat normally again, they will regain their lost weight. Side-effects associated with this diet include weakness, pains in the stomach, and diarrhea.

Another fad diet approach is food combining. The rationale behind this diet states that people are overweight because they do not consume the appropriate combination of foods. The diet may require its followers to do arbitrary things, like eat a banana only in the morning. This is nonsense, since the stomach can handle a variety of foods at one time. The diet does promote eating low-calorie foods, but there are better methods available that will accomplish the same thing.

Some weight-loss companies claim that weight can be lost by dreaming. By using their product before bed, dieters will lose weight. This claim is totally incredible. It is impossible to lose any significant number of calories while sleeping. Other questionable diets promote the loss of weight through eating special candy bars or milkshakes. These products generally consist of milk and candy to which vitamins and minerals have been added. They rarely satisfy the appetite and may actually encourage dieters to eat more throughout the day.

The truth is that there is a lot of money to be made in the marketing and sale of diet products. As long as there are overweight people, companies will try to profit from them. Dieters must become wise enough to recognize a fad diet for what it is. There are no short cuts to weight loss. A successful program requires commitment, patience, and determination, as well as a willingness to alter eating patterns.

Learn How to AVOID Spending Hundreds of Dollars Needlessly, Risking Your Health And GAINING WEIGHT By NOT Going On A Diet

Do you realise that currently American women are spending more than $40 billion dollars per year on dieting and diet related products? Other countries suffering from the current obesity epidemic such as the U.K., Australia, Canada, and Germany are also spending huge sums of money on the same.

When you consider the real risks of going on a diet it is hard to understand why modern women are ready to spend a small fortune seeking the body they crave. Then again, when you look at the scrawny anorexic super models and “media personalities” who stare out of magazines and newspapers at us perhaps it is easier to realise why today’s modern women are prepared to spend nearly the same amount as a bank in trouble demands from the government.

How many of you know that dieting can lead to eating disorders? Those of you that did can have a gold star. Those that didn’t had better pay attention!

If you go on a diet in an attempt to lose weight and you fail then you classify yourself as a failure. When you go on to a diet, the fuel that your body needs to function properly, FOOD becomes your number one enemy. The food that you like, cream cakes, chocolate, McDonalds are forbidden and the foods that you don’t like, rice cakes, low fat cheese are O.K. diet foods. A lot of dieters find that every encounter with food results in tension and stress. In an effort to reach their target weight the dieter is not prepared top stick by their diet. They adopt other tactics and maybe indulge in a bit of bulimia. Or when they look at a full length mirror instead of seeing “skinny Minnie” they see a little fat person and they welcome good old anorexia. Or they might think to themselves “Oh what the heck…” and then go on a binge eating session.

Of course, these are the extreme risks of going on a diet. However, other more common risks that occur include what happens to your body when you try to lose a substantial amount of weight in a short period of time. The heart of this risk isn’t with losing subcutaneous fat, (the pinch an inch fat) but with losing the fat which protects your lean organs such as your liver and kidneys. When this happens it puts a strain on these organs as they try to retain their normal function. Ultimately the dieter can suffer from organ failure. Imagine waiting for a liver transplant and some one asks you how you’re in this position. How stupid would anybody feel if the answer was “I overdid my diet.”

Diets which ban certain food groups such as low carbohydrate diets, nil fat diets, high protein diets etc are all unhealthy because they are depriving your body of the correct combination of essential food groups as are diets that prescribe 800 calories per day or 1000. A healthy diet typically requires 50% of your calories come from healthy carbohydrates, such as whole grains, vegetables and fruit. Similarly 20% comes from protein such as chicken, eggs, cheese and 30% from GOOD fats, mainly poly and monounsaturated fats but some saturated and fish oils.

If you deprive your body of carbohydrates you can actually promote malnutrition. If you go on a high protein diet you can stress your kidneys. A high fat diet can lead to heart disease. Whatever diet you follow, if it brags “lose a kilo a day” remember the initial weight loss will be mainly water. This in turn can lead to dehydration and ultimately muscle waste age. What do you need to help you burn fat? MUSCLE. No muscle equals negative fat burning.

No one who promotes diets informs you of the simplest fact of all, because if they did it would have a negative impact on their earnings. DIETS DO NOT WORK!

When you go on a diet you are cutting down the fuel your body needs for metabolism. (the number of calories your body needs to perform its everyday functions such as breathing, digesting food etc.) When this happens your metabolic rate slows down. (Therefore you don’t need as many calories!) You hit your target weight and you start eating normally again. HOWEVER you r metabolism is still running at its reduced weight. Guess what happens next? You got it! The excess calories you take in are stored as fat and then what happens? Have you got it? That’s right, it is stored as fat and bingo, and you now weigh more than you did when you went on the diet! Ah well, better go on a better diet this time! Guess what, the same thing will keep happening until you change your lifestyle.

Change your lifestyle! What do you mean? What I mean is changing the food that you eat. Cut out the unhealthy sugary, processed, trans fat laden junk that you have been eating in the past and start eating healthily. Don’t sit on your butt all day! Go out and EXERCISE. Start gently and gradually and build up to it. Also do a bit of weight lifting to build muscle. Remember what we said earlier on, muscle helps burn fat!

Don’t look at rapid weight loss, aim for a pound per week. If you don’t like weighing yourself measure your waist, and see how soon you can fit those great pants, skirt or dress you haven’t got in to for a couple of years. If you do weigh yourself do it at the same time on the same scales on the same day every week.

Remember an exercise regime plus healthy diet beats dieting every time (AND you don’t have to go hungry!!)

Finally, a word of caution. If you are seriously overweight before you do anything IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.

Top 10 Most Unrealistic Diet Expectations of All Time

What is the one thing you find the hardest to grasp with dieting? Is it the type of food you eat, the amount of food you eat, the amount of exercise or is it the lack of freedom of food choices. After overcoming my weight problem after spending 7 and a half years of my life yo-yo dieting, I thought it would be fun to write down on paper the things I struggled with most. These 10 factors are the ones that more likely than not, caused me to ruin my diet.1. EATING SMALLER MEALSThis was extremely difficult for me. I like to feel content and full after a meal. I found I could only do this if I was really busy. However, if I had nothing else to do after finishing my diet meal, I would get irresistible cravings to splurge…and more often than not I did…in a big way!2. EATING DISGUSTING FOODI found this the most difficult. Not only did I have to give up my favourite foods, I had to eat the most blend and tasteless food imaginable. Even if a diet did sound good to start with (the high fat diet) the lack of variety soon made me hate those foods. I still cringe thinking about how I used to force myself to eat tuna in spring water and egg whites. After a while I was dry reaching every time I put them in my mouth! To solve this problem, I would take a mouthful of tuna, then take a mouthful of water and drink it down! Yuck! After having this meal for lunch at work, I would get home and eat half a box of Nutri-Grain cereal…with nearly a litre of milk!3. CUTTING CARBOHYDRATESThis drove me crazy! Whenever I did this I felt so drained and weak. I was always tired. I found it hard to string more than a few days of consistent dieting together without pigging out on cereal, pasta, juice and sandwiches. What I realize now is that whatever I wasn’t allowed to have, that’s what I craved.4. CONSUMING LESS FOOD AT NIGHTI don’t like to admit it, but one of my favourite things is to eat a large, almost challenging-to-finish meal for dinner that will leave me stuffed. I don’t know why but I love the feeling. Maybe I like the challenge and almost like to show off how much food I can eat. Also, night time is when I’m unwinding and I would like to have a snack or two while relaxing and watching T.V before going to bed. Many diets actually want you to eat very little from 5pm onwards and not eat for 3 hours before going to bed…I obviously struggled with this one. My most common time for pigging out and ruining my diet was (and still is) at night time. 5. EATING A TON OF PROTEINI found this the hardest in my day to day activities. Some diets won’t let you even have an apple without having a piece of protein with it. I couldn’t stand to eat so much meat…blend meat at that because it had to be lean. Do you know hard it is to get a lean piece of meat when you are out and about? I would have to carry tins of tuna with me because this was the only portable meat. I couldn’t always leave the house because I had to eat protein every 2-3 hours! (I know that’s a bit extreme but I felt like that some times!) This is where supplement companies must be loving it, because the most portable source of protein is…protein powder… which leads me to my next point… 6. EXPENSIVE SUPPLEMENTSI personally found that the most restricting diets were the ones that recommended that you use supplements to make the diet easier. Maybe they made the diet so hard that you had no choice but to buy their supplements? I don’t know. All I know is many of those supplements (predominantly Meal Replacement Powders) were disgusting and extremely expensive. I would fork out over a $100 for a few weeks supply. What I find amusing is that they also say that you should follow their diet for life (I wonder why?!…$$) Besides how can a powdered mix be more healthy than natural from the ground real food?7. DIETS THAT CUT OUT AN ENTIRE FOOD GROUPThese diets were the hardest ones to follow. Whether it was a no fat diet, a no protein diet (all fruit, or soup diets) or a no carbohydrate diet I couldn’t stand the lack of freedom. I personally found the no carb diet the hardest, I felt like a zombie and I was talking as slow as Rocky Balboa! Any diet that cuts out a whole macronutrient (whether be protein, carbs or fat) was just way to demanding for me.8. EATING LOW FATMany of the high protein diets also recommend that you keep your fat intake to a minimum (some allow us to have a tablespoon of flaxseed oil a day…Hooray!) This is what made high protein diets unbearable for me. Not only did we have to eat a ton of it, it had to be as lean as possible. Only the egg white, grilled chicken, no fat, nothing on it, or tuna in spring water…drained…Yuck! If I was lucky some diets would even grant me the luxury of no fat, watery skim milk! No fat = no taste = no chance for me to stick to it9. NO FREEDOM OR FLEXIBILITYThis drove me crazy. Most…wait actually all diets had an authorised food list. If a food you wanted to eat wasn’t on the list, you simply couldn’t eat it. Problem was the authorised list normally contained no more than 10-20 foods…that was it! Typically it was: chicken, tuna, egg whites, fish, protein powder and oatmeal, brown rice, whole-wheat pasta and some allowed whole-wheat bread sparingly, along with plenty of vegetables. What if I was away from my house for more than 2 hours, where was I going to cook this food? Why can’t I just have a chicken burger at McDonalds? Can’t I just have a bottle of Orange Juice at the petrol station? No, No, No if it’s not on the authorised list you can’t eat it!These damn authorised lists also stopped me from dining out altogether…so my girlfriend suffered. At first I tried to dine out and stick to the authorised list, but I would spend half an hour explaining to the waiter what I wanted. Not only this hassle but the temptation of delicious food all around me made me to simply give up dining full stop. This drove me crazy because I love dining out. Taking people you care about out for a special night and delicious food. Depriving myself of this right was probably one of the hardest things to cope with. This lack of flexibility with the diet caused me to pig out on so much junk food (I don’t even want to think about how much money I have given to ol’ Colonel Sanders) I think subconsciously I might also pig out because I am a bit head strong and rebellious. (I’ll show you for not allowing me to eat my favourite foods!)And last, but definitely not least…10. NOT BEING ALLOWED TO “OVER-INDULGE” OCCASIONALLYI have a ridiculously large appetite. I love to eat until I’m stuffed and feel completely satisfied. I almost show off with how much I can eat sometimes (I know that sounds bad but I am proud of how much I can put away!) All diets were a huge culture shock to me because of how little I was allowed to eat. I probably could have stuck to them if they just let me let my hair down occasionally and “indulge” a little. Many didn’t allow any leeway though. So the pressure of depriving myself of overeating just kept building up and building up until it became unbearable. Then guess what happened. That’s right I OVER ATE and in a big way. At first I felt good about it, but then felt really depressed because I had done the wrong thing by the diet I was following.I honestly didn’t and to this day still don’t see the harm in “pigging out” every now and then. If you stick to your diet and train hard, a large pizza to yourself or a visit to an all you can eat buffet once or twice a week will definitely not hurt your progress… in actual fact I believe it helps you. I believe it actually speeds up weight loss (I’ll go more in-depth in another article) but more importantly it helps keep you sane, and keeps cravings down, which enables you to be more consistent for a longer period of time.

How cool is that!

Don’t believe me?

I don’t blame you; in fact I was a sceptic for years, because of the general beliefs on dieting and weight loss.

It wasn’t until, after struggling for over 8 years to lose weight, (because I love chocolate, ice cream and sugary cereals too much) that I decided to stop worrying about what I was eating, and instead focus on my total calorie intake.

Surprisingly I lost 35 pounds, and got a six pack for the first time in my life, all while eating absolutely whatever I wanted everyday.

If you too love your food, (and especially those sugary carbohydrates) then you can check out http:///www.junkfooddietsite.com for photo proof and to discover exactly how I did it.

The Raw Food Diet: Healthy, or are Benefits Cooked-up?

January 26th, 2010 DietPills-thatWork No comments

Since when was getting a raw deal a good thing? When you decide to try the Raw Food Diet, apparently. Proponents of this natural food diet stick to unprocessed uncooked plant foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, dried fruit, and seaweed.

Most adherents are vegetarian, while some eat raw fish and even fewer eat (gulp!) raw meat. Either way, you may as well say bye-bye to that new stainless steel stove of yours. That’s because raw food proponents believe that heating any food above 116 degrees Fahrenheit destroys important enzymes that help in digestion and absorption of the essential nourishment you get from your meals.

Critics claim that even if enzymes are inactivated when food is heated, the body uses its own enzymes for digestion. They also point out that cooking makes some phytochemicals easier to absorb into your system.

Regardless of which side you stand on, the emphasis on natural, non-processed food sources, is undeniably a good place to start.

So, are you still interested in trying the raw eating lifestyle? Since this is a pretty drastic change in your eating habits, you may experience some withdrawal symptoms such as headaches and nausea when you first give up sugar and caffeine. But don’t fret; it should only last a couple days. You may also risk some nutritional deficiencies such as protein, calcium and iron, so consider consulting your doctor first.

Celopin Diet Pill: Does Celopin or Any Diet Pill, Help you Lose Weight Fast?

October 25th, 2009 DietPills-thatWork No comments

Over the past few decades, the big pharmaceutical companies have marketed over 1000 diet pills – Celopin Diet Pill is only one of their latest offerings. And despite their claims of rapid, easy weight loss, the fact is that a large majority of diet pills DO NOT WORK AT ALL.

The first diet pills go all the way back to the 1950s, when amphetamines were offered as a way to suppress your appetite/boost your metabolism. Unfortunately, amphetamines (also known as “speed”) are highly addictive, and caused so many serious side effects that the drug companies were forced to take them off the market.

There then followed a long line of diet-pill drugs, which came and went as the continual discovery of side effects would force a new pill off the market within a few years. The most infamous case of this, were the “fen-phen” diet pills. The FDA approved this combination of fenfluramine and phentermine, assuring all that it was completely safe. Mere MONTHS later, the FDA had to issue a humiliating reversal of its decision – the “fen-phen” combination produced some of the worst side effects ever seen in any diet pill offered!

But “Big Pharma” wasn’t about to lose this “cash cow” that easily. In order to regain the trust of the general public, they began moving towards the use of “natural ingredients” in their new diet pill offerings. Of course, just because a chemical is produced by a plant, doesn’t mean it’s any safer than one produced in the laboratory.

The most notorious “natural” diet pill ingredient, was ephedra. Similar to caffeine (but more potent), it was eventually found to be causing caffeine-like side effects – but much more serious. Heart palpitations, heart arrhythmias, other heart problems, allergic reactions, nervous system problems – quite a list indeed! It too, was eventually banned in most of the technologically-advanced, Western civilized nations.

Are you seeing a pattern yet?

All of this does not mean that diet pills are entirely useless. A very few, select diet pills, have some value in assisting with weight loss. They can be useful – but only if you know how to use them correctly, and are fully aware of their problems:

1) ALL diet pills are potent drugs. They all have side effects – some of which are potentially very dangerous.

2) The more frequent side effects of diet pills include: heart complications, high blood pressure, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, dry mouth, and diarrhea or constipation.

3) Like many other drugs, diet pills can be addictive. People have been known to become quite dependent on these pills, even long after they have stopped their dieting.

4) Many “successful” diet pill claims, are by people who also used a diet plan and exercised regularly during this period. Thus, there’s no way to know for certain, whether they would have lost the same amount of weight WITHOUT using the diet pill.

5) Recently, Big Pharma has tried a different approach: Offering watered-down versions of their prescription diet pills, as “over-the-counter” diet pills. Of course, being watered-down, they are even more useless than their original, stronger, prescription-required versions.

Even worse, after taking all these risks and possibly suffering through a list of side effects, ALL diet pills only work for a short time. Typically, your body will adapt to their weight-loss effects, and the pills will lose potency after a couple of months.

But worst of all, is the “bounce”. Many diet pill users report that after they went off the pills, they regained all the weight they lost while on the pills – plus more! (I have personal experience with this: After trying several different diet pills, each time I finished my diet-pill regimen, I would eventually end up at a HIGHER weight, than the weight I started at before using the diet pill!)

So as we can see, despite the promise of “easy weight loss”, using Celopin Diet Pill (and other diet pills) can lead you through a potential minefield of problems and dangers. But as I said earlier, there are ways to deal with these problems, and alternatives for losing weight quickly and easily – if you know where to find Diet Plans that really work! And I will show you exactly that (plus give you full details on how to make your weight loss Permanent, and avoid the “bounce” entirely), in my next article in this series on: http://celopindietpill.blogspot.com
